Recruiting Today for the Health Professionals of Tomorrow

Semillas de Salud is a program for you if you are interested in a career in health or are already a health professional student in need of clinical experience. That includes: doctors, advanced practitioners such as Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, behavioral health providers such as LISW’s, psychologists or psychiatrists, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and pharmacists.

Just to meet the national average, New Mexico needs 880 providers and 4900 nurses. With the increase in primary care services provided by community health centers, these numbers will increase even more.

Since its creation in 2009, Semillas de Salud has provided over 200 formal clinical rotations for health career students and over 300 health education presentations to youth interested in future health careers.

What is Semillas de Salud?

Semillas de Salud is a program that supports a recruiting pipeline in New Mexico. Semillas de Salud nurtures the educational, economic, and cultural health of our communities, while addressing the problem of Health Professional shortages in the state. The primary focus of the program is youth workforce development. In collaboration with schools, colleges, universities and other pipeline advocates, Semillas de Salud educates kids about possible job opportunities in the health field, offering health career clubs, mentoring, and on-site experiential opportunities.
