Dr. Bjorklund is from Los Alamos, New Mexico and chose to work at El Centro Family Health because it gave him an opportunity to give back to the people of Northern New Mexico by working in areas where there would otherwise be no health care.
Dr. Mark Bjorklund is the Chief Clinical Officer for El Centro Family Health. He did his undergraduate work at the University of New Mexico, earning a double major in Biology and Chemistry and also did his medical school training at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Bjorklund is board certified in Family Medicine and did his residency at Penn State University in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Following completion of his residency, Dr. Bjorklund worked 8 years in Carlisle, Pennsylvania as an emergency physician. Before leaving this position he was the Vice Chairman of the Emergency Department and the Medical Director for Medic 83, Carlisle Advanced Life Support Emergency Services. Dr. Bjorklund moved back with his family to New Mexico in December, 1994 and has been working ever since as a Family Physician at El Centro Family Health.
Dr. Bjorklund has also served as the Medical Director for the Espanola Valley Nursing Home and Chief of Staff for the Espanola Hospital. He was selected as the 2006 Provider of the Year for the New Mexico Primary Care Association.
He enjoys all activities with his family. He is active in many outdoor activities including hiking, skiing (downhill and cross country), backpacking, trail running, and nature photography and dragonfly identification.
